1 - 2-Piece/4-Layer Collar Throat Tab
Contoured and graded for each Coat size, the Cairns Collar combines the most comfortable fit available and the advantages of Collar Break with no irritating Velcro® or snaps at the neckline. 5-ply construction combines 2 layers of Outer Shell with 3 layers of Moisture Barrier. 4 rows of horizontal stitching on the underside Shell layer provide improved stand-up performance. 4-layer Throat Tab provides no-gap protection, sheds sparks and spray, and affords precision SCBA mask interface.
1A - Patented Collar Break™ Attachment System
Uniquely comfortable and efficient, this design easily met the current NFPA shower test without modification. Full wrap-around Collar is sewn directly to the Liner - no curled Velcro® to irritate your neck. The Coat Shell has a stand-up annular interface that attaches inside the back of the Collar, creating a smooth, hidden, and secure connection. Also provides instant fire ground identification that the Liner is in place; if the Collar is missing, the Thermal Liner is not installed.
2 - Contoured Sleeves
Our Sleeves are cut and sewn to match the ergonomic shape of your arm to work with you - not against you. Contoured and graded for each Coat size so you always get a comfortable fit in all positions.
2A - Expansion-Plus Sleeve (Patent Pending)
Another Cairns exclusive. Pleated darts built into all 3 layers on the front and back of each Sleeve provide unprecedented mobility. Raise your arms up, down, or rotate them around - minimal Coat rise! Added Benefit: Works to reduce fatigue even with SCBA in place.
3 - Telescoping Sleeve Wells
Extra-deep 5" Telescoping Sleeve Wells keep water out, interface with all glove styles, and increase mobility when reaching. 4" NOMEX® Wristers are standard or choose from many available options including hand/wrist guards and elasticized Sleeve Wells.
4 - Patented TRIMTRAX™ Thread Protection
The wear tested solution to premature trim stitching failure. Abrasion-resistant cording protects the thread. Added Benefit: Lasts at least 7 times longer than industry standard so maintenance costs are lower and your gear is in service with minimum downtime.
5 - Cargo/Handwarmer Dual Action Pockets
Standard 9" X 9" pleated expansion Cargo Pockets have an extra layer of Shell fabric to reinforce the lower half for longer wear. Comfortable Handwarmer Pockets are set underneath. Full expansion, half expansion and wedge style pockets are also available options.
6 - Thermally Enhanced Upper Body and Elbows
High compression areas get added layers of your specified Thermal Liner material for greater Conductive Compressive Heat Resistance (CCHR). Extra-large enhancements extend 7" down the back and 5" down the front.
7 - Low-Bulk Front Closure System
Storm flap and inside facings are lined with breathable Moisture Barrier material for improved ventilation of critical body core. Heavy-duty brass zipper and quadruple-stitched VELCRO® fastener are standard or choose from many additional Closure options.
8 - Heavy-Duty Cuff Reinforcement
Our Cuff Reinforcements are twice as wide as industry standard and set with double the rows of stitching - a total of 4 rows. Pearl gray premium leather is standard with many other reinforcement material options available.
9 - Reinforced Hardware
All hook & dees and suspender buttons are reinforced with precision die-cut leather. Reinforcement is centered to ensure that the hardware never misses the intended application point.
10 - Generous Liner Pocket
7" X 9" interior Pocket is lined with Moisture Barrier to keep contents dry. Optional second interior Liner Pocket is available.
11 - Double-Stitched Seams
The strongest stitching in the industry with double-needle seams and 8 to 10 stitches per inch for longer service life.

13 - Patterns To Fit All Sizes
We make protective clothing in a full range of sizes to provide everyone in the fire service with the correct fit. Men’s sizes are available in either 32” or 35” back lengths. Women’s patterns are designed specifically for female firefighters and come with a 29” back length.
14 - YOCCO™ Drag Rescue Device(DRD)
The YOCCO™ Drag Rescue Device is designed to provide a quickly deployed system to help rescue a downed firefighter. The DRD strap is hidden between the inner and outer jacket and loops around the upper shoulders. One end of the loop exits through an opening in the outer jacket at the base of the collar covered by a flap. to deploy, open the flap and pull on the strap handle. This action tightens the loop around the victim's torso and gives you and others a more effective way of dragging a firefighter to safety.
